1B. Lou Gehrig
2B. Joe Morgan
3B. A-rod or Pujols
ss. Jeter possibly Hanley if he stays healthy
C. Bench or Piazza
LF. Bonds or Ted williams or Stan Musial
CF. Mays or Joe D
RF. Ruth or Hank Aaron

any thoughts?

You anger me. First off, when listing your best players at each position... you cannot say "this guy OR this guy OR this guy." Pick one. Don't list 1 guy at Catcher and then 3 at another position.

That said, my picks:

1B. Lou Gehrig (you actually got one right)

2B. Rogers Hornsby

3B. Pujols at third is quite interesting. I will go with Mike Schmidt.

SS. Hanley? Lay off the drugs. Honus Wagner is my pick.

C. It is probably the great Mickey Cochrane. How you include Piazza with the legendary Bench is unreal.

LF. Shockingly, I am actually going with Rickey Henderson here. It would have been Bonds if not for his last 5 years of his career tarnishing everything he ever accomplished.

CF. Joe D.

RF. Hank Aaron

Since you didn't argue, I won't either. I am still angry with you

ok, i will update

1B Gehrig
2B Morgan
3B. Pujols
SS. Jeter
C. Piazza
LF. Ted Williams ( he lost 5 years of his prime to fight in war)
CF. Mays
RF. Ruth (outstanding pitcher as well)

Pujols has barely played 3B.

Piazza had some nice offensive numbers, but that hardly makes him the best catcher ever. Top 10 probably, but not even close to number 1. Bench and Yogi are better by far.

I am still angry with you.

Relisting your choices doesn't constitute an argument. You have provided 0 logic, 0 stats, 0 argument for your selections.

You have 1200 words. Use at least 1000 of them to try and convince the people why Jeter et.al deserve to be on this list.

Forfeited Turn

Agreed. Not much for me to argue here.

isn't the point to pick the best at each position..... not 2 or 3...

how is pujols the greatest all time at a position he doesnt play? mystery....

November 6, 2009  02:02 AM ET

CAn't you pick just one for each position?

Who makes a team and goes Brady or brees.

Hanley is young But look at the stats for his first 3 years. he def can go down as the best ss of all time if he stays healthy and none knows if they are going to move pujols back to 3rd etc. that is where he started

November 6, 2009  02:29 AM ET

also Piazza Dominates all the hitting categories makes up for the lack of arm IMO

They will never move Pujols back to 3rd. He started at 3rd because they had McGwire at first, then Tino Martinez. Why not just say hes also the best left fielder of all time because he played there too once the Cardinals got Rolen. Heck he even played 2nd base during a game in 2008 so put him in at 2nd too.

No, that would be your list. There is no "actual" list since things can always be debated :-)

November 6, 2009  10:46 AM ET

Pujols played 3B very briefly back in 2001, primarily. I don't think that qualifies him as the best 3B ever.

November 6, 2009  10:46 AM ET

"3B. A-rod or Pujols."

I mean, where the hell did this come from? Are you from outer space?

No, really. I'm serious. Where are the Men in Black? Or at least where are the guys with the strait jackets? Anyone? Really?

A-Rod or Pujols?
