England Coach Fabio Capello believes David Beckham could play again for his country at the 2010 World Cup. Capello said the Galaxy midfielder could be called up for the tournament in South Africa, if he maintains his fitness. Beckham would be 35 by then. "The door is open. He played the last game, and did well against France," Capello was quoted as saying by sports newspaper Marca today. "It depends. There are players who at 33 or 34 take good care of themselves, they understand that the body is not as it was and they take more care. It depends a lot on that."

i believe this deserves another CHOKE SLAM

Possibly.

Who cares? They won't make it out of the group stage either way. I say let him play, he could be useful in situations.

IDK, Capello is a very good coach.

35 is bad for a player that relies on pace and thigs like that. Becks needs to sit on the wing and bend the ball and hit those free kicks. He sn't bery fast, so he could still be effective

IF England qualifies for the World Cup first of all....I wouldn't doubt he will be on the team. Yes, he will be old, but also seasoned and experienced. Thinking about how many younger newer faces England could potentially have come 2010, I view this as a smart move. Becks could offer his leadership and have a postivie role to the team, taking a lot of pressure off others. Not to mention his value to the team on set piece plays. He won't have the speed but did he ever really? I can see him being able to play 45-60 solid minutes a game.

Who cares how old he is? If Capello is still the coach in 2010 then I'm sure he'll evaluate every player available. If Beckham is good enough, he'll make the team. Capello probably learned his lesson the first time when he said that he would never play Beckham again after he he signed with the Galaxy, and then played him. There's no point in saying someone is automatically out of consideration unless there is an obvious problem with them.

Its impossible to know where Beckham's game is gunna be in 3 years. Why even speculate?

April 26, 2008  07:09 PM ET

Beckham is quality you dont ever really lose those intangibles like whipping dirty crosses in and such.

if Zizzou can do it becks can too and he will captain the side, i know they are 2 different players but both of them are the best at what they do, Zizzou slow build up quality on the ball, and becks can put the ball anywhere he wants.

Imagine this 2010 lineup Rooney and Gerrard up top (or crouch, walcott maybe too) with becks, hargreaves, lamps(i hope not) if it were me id pick jenas, and cole, with the usual back four w/ wes brown at RB and who knows who would be in goal

^ thats an old squad. Where's the young guys? Walcott is the only youngster I see up there. Your forgetting Bentley, Lennon and Richards. Theyre gunna be good too.

That's possible, Dino Zoff play in the world cup at age 40.

Sorry Beckham, younger talent has to be given the opportunity to shine for England.
