Hernan Crespo's agent is set to hold talks with Real Madrid after flying into the Spanish capital to hear what is on offer and negotiate a lengthy contract, according to a report. Madrid is mooting the idea of a contract until the end of the season, but Crespo wants a deal that will keep him at the Bernab??u until 2010, so that he does not have to uproot for just six months.

Crespo would be a good addition for Real Madrid if they needed someone who can come of the bench really late in the game. That's not what they need though, they already have that in Saviola. They need someone who can start immediately and who will actually score. We have all seen Raul's rapid detitioration as player, which is most likely due to age. Crespo is two years older than Raul, so I don't really see how Crespo addresses Real's first-team striker deficit.

He's 33, he scored only 7 goals last season and he's never played in Spain. Why would you give him a "lengthy contract"? Why not Drogba or Huntelaar or maybe even break the bank and go for Adebayor or Altidore?

Crespo? Makes no sense when Saviola, Raul and Higuain are already sitting there.

They need a big, strong true #9...preferably one that doesn't have weak knees and ankles like the last guy.

If Madrid hadn't cleaned out all of their Brazilians, I would think even Adriano would be a better call than Crespo.

Crespo? No. Say no Madrid and then walk away from the table.

I could elaborate but Ronaldinho's Dog and Gaucho68 said it well enough for me.

Crespo to the MLS?

Seriously...does Crespo had an attitude, a "Billy Big Boots" mentality?
Because it seems like he just cannot get any decent minutes anymore and I thought or at least I thought I saw him at one point being a very good striker.

Even Real isn't this crazy.

Crespo has to be a head case. I say that not just becasue of this, but because of his past. Talented guy who has shown he can scores goals, but he's been moved around pretty often.

You all said why it's not a good move for Madrid and I couldn't agree more. I know that desperate times call for desperate measures but I don't know that they are in such dire straits that they need Crespo, how much can you really get out of him? Will it really matter the way they are giving goals away?

Crespo was incredible when he was with parma, ten years ago. His mullet was also better back in those days. Not even sure it can still be considered a mullet.

In the past couple years, he has only been proving my theory that anyone will score eventually if they stand in front of goal long enough.

Well, the good thing now is that Crespo allegedly would rather sit on the bench at Inter and win titles then go to Real (also per Goal.com) Glad to see that Crespo is saving Real from themselves.

I wouldn't mind a short-term plan for Crespo at Real. I do not think Crespo is a head case. That move to Chelsea really ruined his career. Since then, he's been loaned out various times and unfortunately it was during his peak years.

Crespo to Madrid?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Sadly, this kind of fits in with Real's transfer policy.

Because Real Madrid doesn't purchase with their mind, they hoard.

It's like the tip for food shopping; never shop for food on an empty stomach, you'll get crap you'll never eat.

Does he still play?? I prefer Batistuta ;)

Congrats MLS, you can officially say that you have something in common with Real Madrid. Over the hill, retreads now use both of you to try and artificially pump up their value by leaking stories about contract negotiations.
