Manchester City's owners have agreed to fund a mammoth offer for Chelsea captain John Terry, according to reports from England. The News of the World puts forth that the City manager has told Shiekh Mansour, who fronts the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG), that Terry is the best defender in the world.

Are they "liked" to a Terry offer, or maybe *linked* to Terry offer? I think trying to get Terry away from Chelsea would be impossible. He's the heart of that team, and has always been there, even as a kid. The fans love him. I know Roman may be very shrewd, but I don't think he's stupid and wouldn't consider selling his best defender and someone that draws heavily because he's also England's MNT captain.

Why go down in the world. Your at Chelsea, the top of the Premier, and leave for City, near the middle? Doesn't seem smart.

Money talks, ask Robinho. Next they're going to try and buy Wayne Rooney, Totti and Messi. Every week is another guy they're going to splash 50M pounds on with crazy wages, I'll believe it when I see it with these money guys. The price of Oil has dropped more than half it was in the summer, say what you want about how much cash these guys have and how small amount of money it would be in the big picture, it does matter to them.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA, AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA. Excuse me. This is just hilarious though. As stated above JT is the Heart of Chelsea and he woulld never, ever leave. He is already paid a hefty sum to Captain his side, so leaving for the dough would be the last reason. We'll see about City after next year with a full round of supposed new transfers, but I just don't see them cracking the top four with whomever they may or may not land. Robinho should really jump ship to the team that he should have gone to in the first place before it's too late. Blue is the colour!

yes, and man city is also going to make a move to sign phil scolari as manager too

November 23, 2008  08:11 PM ET

ur tight

November 23, 2008  09:31 PM ET

WoW, man city is official gay
If man city gets 2 the top 4 and stays till the end of the season then i will sell all 8 off my Chelsea jerseys at a man u game!

November 23, 2008  10:13 PM ET

Ha ha ha ha. He is the last player they could sign. They'd have better luck trying to sign SAF back at his old winger position.

November 24, 2008  09:35 AM ET

Has anyone sent Man City a DVD of the era of the Galaticos (spl) with Real Madrid and how they really didn't win all that much? Because that is where Man City is headed.

Only difference is, Man City will be ousted early next year in the UEFA Europa League and not Champions League because they still won't be good enough to crack the Top 4.

November 24, 2008  09:54 AM ET

Holy crap welcome to the new Chelski no doubt.

No Man City will be linked to everyone in the world. Why does this site still link to Goal.com?

November 24, 2008  01:22 PM ET

Someone is smoking too much there in Man City if they think Terry will wave goodbye to Chelsea for Man City. Unless the offer is something outrageous, it won't happen.

November 24, 2008  01:31 PM ET

Really, if Man City can get another 2 or 3 big names to sign for them, the dominoes will start to fall because others will say (for example): "Okay, they've got Robinho, Sergio Ramos, Adriano, Juninho (from Lyon) etc--this team is serious abount winning. I think I'll take their offer, the money and the opportunity."

Robinho was the first domino. Someone will be next this winter--but I don't think terry will be that one.

November 24, 2008  02:20 PM ET

One would think that right now it would be Buffon coming in over the winter transfer window.

Manchester City has to stop with this foolishness. Just because they have money, doesn't mean that they have to create a FIFA All-Star team.

But JHOVA! That's what Chelsea does every year! That's what Man Utd does every year. That's what AC Milan, Real Madrid, Inter, Juventas, Barcelona, Bayern Munich--they all form world all-star teams every year. Liverpool tries to on a lesser budget. Tottenham spends a lot of dough and hopes to build an all-star team (and sometimes it looks that way on paper) only to turn out to be mid-table. Newcastle as well--lots of money spent--but usually great players turn into busts once they get to Newcastle. Those are some of your big spenders. Why not let MAn City give it a shot? They should do it better than Newcastle and Tottenham do. It would be great to see SOMEONE besides the same big 4 leading the pack every year--even though Arsenal have shown that you can do MORE with LESS...

For the record - FIFA All-Star teams don't win championships...
I had a FIFA All-Star team in Pro Evolution 2009 and did the same in FIFA 2009...both were eliminated in the MLS Cup by the NJRB...

Jimenz put the lock down on Messi in both systems. And JPA made John Terry and the rest of my back four look like I had signed the LA Galaxy's back four.

November 25, 2008  12:15 PM ET

Was considering getting PE 09--but it sounds really difficult! You were a Euro all-star team and got beat by the NJ Red Bulls!?! Sounds like this game might be too difficult.

November 25, 2008  01:21 PM ET

LOL - that's why you should go with the game!

November 25, 2008  02:23 PM ET

This just in: Man City look to sign Pele and that dog from the movie World Pup
